Many ministries take out a good number of days to fast and pray at the beginning of a new year and rightly so. While some love it, for others, it’s an unnecessary stress. So we want to answer the question “why must I fast”! Firstly, you must fast because it is a Biblical prescribed way of consecration and devotion to the Lord. “Fasting” simply means abstinence. During fast, you stay away from food primarily and other distractions to your heart and mind. This is to enable you to fix your gaze upon God. Our opening verse shows how Anna served God in fastings and prayers! As she fasted, she was praying for the will of God – Consecration and Devotion. Some of us have been too distracted by worldly things. We need spiritual recalibration by fasting!

Say after me: Lord Jesus, as I fast, I re-consecrate and align myself with you and for you Jesus, Amen.
