What is the way of Cain? Let’s take a brief look at the story of Cain and Abel (Genesis 4). The brothers, Cain and Abel, went before the Lord to offer sacrifices. Abel’s sacrifice was accepted, but Cain’s was rejected. Cain became angry and jealous of his brother.
However, instead of choosing to do what was acceptable to God, he killed his brother out of jealousy. This story illustrates how jealousy can lead one to destroying another person’s life. The way of Cain manifests as a desire to enforce one’s way and position at the expense of another person- It is known as toxic jealousy. We have to guard our hearts against thinking that the only way up is through the downfall of another.
Everyone has their place and all you have to do to stand out is shine. Pray this prayer: Lord help me guard my heart against jealousy. I trust you to establish me in your plan for my life.
