Yesterday, we discussed how the Holy Spirit brings order from chaos. You might be wondering, “Who is the Holy Spirit?” Some people describe Him as a force or wind. Let’s explore how Jesus described Him. In our opening verse, Jesus introduces the Holy Spirit to the disciples. He told them that although He was going away, another Comforter would come. Further in verse 18, Jesus reassured them, saying, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” If Jesus was sending the Holy Spirit because He was going away, why would He say He would come again? This indicates that the Holy Spirit is, in fact, Jesus. The Holy Spirit is not merely a force or wind but God Himself. He is the Spirit of God. Pray this with me: “Dear Holy Spirit, help me know You today as You really are. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
