When God is urging you to do something, respond quickly. If you have to slow down, let God slow you down. When God is nudging you to pray, give or preach, usually it’s because there’s something at stake. In the Bible, there’s an unpopular story that demonstrates this powerfully. In Matthew 26: 7 – 13, there was a woman who came and poured a precious ointment on Jesus’ feet. While Jesus’ disciples and the Pharisees were angry at the woman’s worship, Jesus said she did it for his burial (See verse 12).
Now, after Jesus died and was buried, there were some women who wanted to pour precious ointments on Jesus’ body (See Mark 16:1). They got to the tomb and found out that Jesus had risen. They never had another opportunity to serve Jesus in that fashion, except that woman that broke her alabaster box. Pray this: Lord help me respond speedily when you call my name.
