For a while, I wondered how someone could quench the Holy Spirit. Then I discovered that the Holy Spirit Himself cannot be quenched, but His work and ministry can be hindered in a person’s life. It is possible for someone to actually stifle the move of the Holy Spirit in their life. The work of the Spirit in a person’s life is like a fire, and no matter how great a fire may be, if you consistently pour large quantities of water on it, you will eventually extinguish it. Many people have encountered the Holy Spirit, but many are doing things that quench His work in their lives.
Neglect of devotion, continual disobedience, and persistent sin are some of those things. Say after me: “I will no longer quench the Spirit in my life, in Jesus’ name”.
