The form of the gospel that many of us have heard tells us that we have to be free of all our sins before we can come to Jesus.
While that may sound logical, have you successfully done so? If not, then what is your hope before God? This is where the true gospel comes to set men free once again. The Bible tells us that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved (Rom.10:9). In other words, you need to surrender to the fact that Jesus is the only way to freedom from sin and death. It is necessary to believe that he died for you and rose again. This form of the gospel is what holds the power of God because it shifts our focus from ourselves to Jesus Christ, the one who can actually save. This Gospel is what Paul is not ashamed to preach. Say after me: ‘Lord Jesus, I believe you can save me. I surrender to you today.
