Our opening scripture teaches us that everything we do flows from what is in our heart. This is very crucial because the state of our heart will determine the quality of our life. So how do you guard your heart? By being selective about what you dwell on. You have the ability to set your affection on whatever you want. Therefore, as the apostle Paul advises, set your affection on things above, where Christ is. But how do you accomplish this? By meditating on the word of God. Select a scripture, perhaps the verse of the day, and repeat it to yourself quietly. You can pray over it, ponder its significance, or ask the Lord questions about it.
The more you do that, the more you fill your heart with the right kind of images and thoughts. Then, you will be able to identify lies and restore your mind to the truth whenever it wanders. Say after me: I will guard my heart with all diligence.
