Have you ever heard the saying, “Familiarity breeds contempt”? It means that when we become too familiar with something or someone, we might start to treat it carelessly, leading to problems. Don’t let familiarity undermine the value of things or people we should hold in high regard. In a parable Jesus used to teach about the kingdom of God, people were invited to the king’s banquet for his Son. However, they made light of it, leading the king to extend the invitation to others. This illustrates how familiarity can diminish value and rob you of special blessings. Whether it’s in your relationship with God, your home, or your job, don’t let familiarity rob you of rewards.
