One prayer I’ve always prayed for myself is this: Lord please don’t replace me, instead, promote me. As believers, every contribution we make to the spread of the Gospel is a privilege given to us by God. However, if we let pride, arrogance, and even nonchalance get in the way, the Lord can use someone else. In our opening verse, the Pharisees wanted to stop the disciples of Jesus from praising him and Jesus said, “I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out”. This means God always has replacements. This should instill in us a sense of duty and humility to serve the Lord. Say after me: I will remain useful to God in Jesus’ name, amen.
