Our opening verse was drawn from the prophetic promise that the Angel of God gave to Zachariah the priest about his son John. The phrase “For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord” got to me! It means that a person can be great in the world yet not be great in the sight of God. Choose to be great in God’s sight! Many times we are tempted to follow worldly standards of greatness. Believers sometimes want to be recognized as the richest, the most successful and most influential at the expense of their souls and convictions. However, you know you are growing spiritually when your sole ambition in life is to be great in the eyes of GOD! Say after me: choose to be great in God’s sight in Jesus name.
