ALWAYS RELEASE OFFENSE

Luke 17:4 : And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

It is a necessary practice to forgive. No matter how justified we may feel in an offense, the Bible instructs us to forgive. Let’s look at something in our opening verse. In that verse, it states that if your brother offends you seven times and repents each time, you should forgive him. In other words, forgiveness has no limits. Many times, we set boundaries on forgiveness in our hearts, saying, ‘If someone offends me one more time, that’s it.’ However, this mindset contradicts the teachings of Jesus Christ, which emphasize forgiveness regardless of the cost. This isn’t to suggest that we shouldn’t establish boundaries to prevent mistreatment, but rather that if it does occur, we shouldn’t be weary to forgive. Take it to the Lord in prayer and cast it on Him as often as needed. Unforgiveness is too heavy a burden to bear. We must learn to forgive as often as required, regardless of the offense.
